Anybody speaks English here please?
« : 20.03.13 - klo:19:20 »
Hello everybody,

First of all pray forgive me if I put the post in some wrong place.
Google Translator is not very reliable...

My name is Rafał, and I am of course Miata fan.
I am planing to have a summer trip to Savonlinna,
so I would appreciate some help, advice and guidance.
We will be traveling in our Miatas. As of today 4 - 5 cars.
Maybe somebody would like to join?

I am from: http://www.mx-5.pl/

PS. currently I am in Salo. If somebody is willing to meet.

Hi,

And welcome to our forum :) Our english topic can be found here: ENGLISH FORUM for those of you who dont speak Finnish. There you will hopefully find some other non finnish speaking memers and some basic info like how to register and change forum language to english.

Do you have more accurate date and plans for your Savonlinna trip? I'm sure that there are people willing to join you.

Here you can find our club schedule for 2013 and these are just our club organized meets and trackdays. There are a lot of local meets too wich are discussed here: Paikallis Miitit / Tapahtumat

Everyone prefers different things. Less planning is more fun for me. headbang

Just start driving, avoid the boring big roads, enjoy the scenery, drive as long as you want, stop for food&sleep whenever and wherever you want. Check the weather forecast next morning and head wherever the sun happens to be that day.

Unless you insist having a hotel every night, there are cabins "everywhere", so there's really no need to reserve anything in advance. food-smiley-004

Thanks for your answers!!!  8) 8) 8)

Uff now it is much better, having the forum in English. >:D >:D >:D

As for the trip dates it is still open, the I idea is to proceed slowly enjoying the sheer beauty of Suomi :)
Actually I would like to ask for some advice - when it is the best time?
To get the best ratio of price/good weather? I also have heard that if we want to stop by some lake,
we need to book the cabin for whole week, is this true?

Planning, well last year we did 7000km in 16days without planning around Balkan Peninsula.
Well we ended up in Albania, being chased by some local mafia. On the roads, on which MX'es were not able
to proceed faster than 2-3km/h - I really mean it . So maybe this year something less demanding. :)

And can somebody please move this topic into the right place? Thanks in advance.

Take a lucky guess. biggthumpup.

July might have the best weather. Or it could rain all the time. That's when "everyone" has their summer holidays over here, prices tend to jump a bit and some places might be fully booked.

I'd guess for August myself. Days are still "summery", though the nights tend to get a bit colder.

Not true, there's no such rule/law/anything.

Of course SOME cabin by SOME lake might be so.

Hi and welcome!

I think early July is a great time to come to here, bright and warm nights + hopefully good weather. Why are you going specially to Savonlinna?

If you´re plannin to be here for a week or longer, I think you can discover pretty much the whole Finland, not just the southern parts (Lapland is great during summer  ;))

I'm sure that there are people willing to join you.

I could definately join/meet you guys somewhere!

Thanks,

Early July is rather out of question, there are some students among us.

Why Savonlinna?
Seems to be a good place to establish a "base" for let us say few days.
During this time some people may drink/party and sleep
and some may want to drive around to many places to see there.
Lakes and woods seem so romantic ;)

I think week in Finland maybe a little more. We need time to get here and then come back.
16 days seems to be a limit for the total trip.

I have never been outside Helsinki/Vantaa/Espoo - Salo being the only exception
All my knowledge is from guides/internet/wikipedia.
So if you think there better places - please kindly suggest.

And also the idea would be to have a multinational meeting ;)

If early july is out of question I might guess that june is really out of the question.
Prices are usually lower then for the accomodation.

And there is no law for that one week rent at cabins, but it is common habit. If you rent for shorter time you usually pay more money per night.

And Saimaa area is also nice to see. Same kind of scenery you can found around Finland. This is a land of thousands lakes. Welcome!

more cottages for rent

This might be too early for your plans. On your way to savonlinna you could come cheer me and my friends at sulkavan suursoudut! Our start is the 60km long boat race on friday.

Again in Finland - this time Helsinki,
are you having any kind of meetings during the week?
Maybe I could see some of you :)
